Soon the evil King Galbatorix finds out about the Saphira hatching and sends his minions, the Razac, after them, forcing both Eragon and Saphira to flee and search for the Varden, an alliance that opposes King Galbatorix.

ReplyDeleteTitle of Book: The Joy Luck Club
ReplyDeletePlot: Four women immigrated from China and founded the Joy Luck Club, where they gathered weekly for a pot-luck and mahjong. The founding member, Suyuan Woo, has died and her grown daughter Jing-Mei is supposed to take her place. This novel tells of many tragedies, happy and humorous moments, and lessons to be learned from a different POV each chapter. The POV changes between these four women and their American-born daughters, and tells of the different kinds of struggles they each face.
Setting:Present-day San Francisco China Town, and flashbacks to China somewhere around 1920s-1940s.
Conflict: Jin-Mei Woo must take her mother's place in the Joy Luck Club after she dies. Her mother told her before of two babies she had in China, but was forced to abandon when she was fleeing from the Japanese. Jing-Mei never felt very close to her mother, so she feels obligated to fulfill Suyuan Woo's dying wish-to find her other children in China- in hopes of growing closer to understanding her mother's past and her heritage.
Protagonist:Jing-Mei Woo
Antagonist: Many minor antagonists in sub plots and side stories, but none in the main plot other than Jing-Mei's doubt and responsibility on her shoulders.
